What is the difference between a downhole motor and a rotary steerable system?
Both mud motors and rotary steerable systems are used in directional and downhole drilling. However, mud motors typically require slide drilling to achieve directional trajectories while rotary steerable systems do not. Both types of systems need to be run with measurement while drilling (MWD) tools.
