Engineering Leadership Behind ProDirectional’s Drilling Technology
Michael leads ProDirectional’s Application Engineering, Survey Management, and Remote Operations Center, overseeing how drilling data, wellbore positioning, and MWD telemetry are translated into real-time field decisions.
With a background in petroleum engineering and advanced wellbore positioning certification, Michael is responsible for ensuring that every ProDirectional drilling system performs with precision, reliability, and data integrity across high-angle and extended-reach wells.
Application Engineering and Wellbore Positioning
ProDirectional’s Application Engineering department is responsible for designing and validating:
-
Bottom hole assemblies (BHAs)
-
MWD and survey configurations
-
Motor and RSS compatibility
-
Trajectory planning and steering models
Michael’s team ensures that drilling tools, telemetry systems, and directional plans align with formation conditions, rig parameters, and performance objectives.
This allows ProDirectional to achieve accurate well placement, stable steering, and predictable drilling performance.
Survey Management and Real-Time Data Control
Under Michael’s leadership, ProDirectional built a centralized Survey Management and Remote Operations platform that allows:
-
Real-time monitoring of MWD and RSS data
-
Validation of wellbore position
-
Quality control of survey accuracy
-
Faster response to downhole events
This data-driven system allows ProDirectional to reduce uncertainty, improve wellbore quality, and support long laterals and complex trajectories.
Why Engineering Leadership Matters in Directional Drilling
Modern directional drilling depends on:
-
Telemetry integrity
-
Survey accuracy
-
Data quality
-
Tool performance
-
Engineering oversight
Michael’s leadership ensures that ProDirectional does not simply run tools, but operates a fully engineered drilling platform that integrates motors, MWD, RSS, and software into a single controlled system.
