Mark Freeman is the CEO for ProDirectional, leading the company to deliver best-in-class directional drilling, coring, and completion fluids services to the industry.
Over his 25 years of professional experience, Mark has led teams in sales, operations, marketing, engineering, and product development while working in two different industries. He has managed businesses ranging in size from a few million dollars in annual revenue to nearly a billion in annual revenue, learning the challenges associated with business at different scales.
Mark spent a number of years at Baker Hughes serving in a variety of field and corporate roles within their drilling businesses. He also worked at a few private equity backed oilfield services businesses that provided drilling and completions solutions to E&P clients.
Mark has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and also earned his MBA. Mark currently lives in The Woodlands, Texas with his wife and two children. He serves on the Industrial Advisory Board at Oklahoma State University and is also on the board of CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County and Mental Health America of Greater Houston.
Jeff Bertrand is the CFO for ProDirectional. He brings over 15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience to our organization primarily focused on mid-sized PE backed companies. Jeff joined ProDirectional in 2015 as Corporate Controller and later served as Vice President of Finance. Prior to joining ProDirectional, he was the Assistant Corporate Controller for IPR (now PURIS), a municipal infrastructure company. He started his career in public accounting with Deloitte in the Houston audit practice serving mostly public clients.
Jeff oversees the finance, accounting, legal, and IT teams at ProDirectional. He leads initiatives that drive improved profitability, the digital transformation of the business, and leveraging new and existing technologies to disseminate information across the organization. He is dedicated to using financial data to influence operational decision-making and strategy.
Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Louisiana College and an MBA from Louisiana Tech University. He is a certified public accountant holding licenses in both Texas and Louisiana. Jeff currently lives in Magnolia, Texas with his wife and two boys.
Since joining ProDirectional in 2008, Seth has been an integral part of the growth and success of the company and has held various management roles within the organization. With his focus on MWD product development, he has helped manufacture what has become the standard in MWD reliability, through internal engineering efforts and developing strategic partnerships with industry-leading suppliers.
He is constantly evaluating new products lines and technologies available to the drilling market to further optimize drilling performance for our customers.
Seth has a bachelor’s degree in General Business from McNeese State University where he served as co-captain of the baseball team. He currently lives in Kingwood, Texas with his two children.
Matt Galvin is Senior Vice President of Commercial & Corporate Strategy at ProDirectional. He plays a critical leadership role in shaping the company’s commercial vision and maintaining its position at the forefront of directional technology. He leads the development of customer‑focused strategies and oversees implementation of technology‑driven solutions. Advancing ProDirectional’s position as a trusted provider of directional drilling.
With more than 15 years of experience in the directional drilling sector, Matt has held progressively senior roles with multiple organizations. He has demonstrated a track record of growing market share, revenue expansion, and building high‑performing commercial teams. Throughout his career, Matt has demonstrated a strong leadership mindset and versatile commercial approach.
Matt earned a bachelor’s degree in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University, and resides in The Woodlands, TX with his wife and two sons.
Daniel Stack is the Director of QHSE and Technical Services at ProDirectional, where he plays a critical role in guiding the company toward consistent quality, promoting safety, and fostering a positive work environment.
With 15 years of experience in the Directional Industry, Dan has held various leadership positions related to quality and reliability. His background in Computer Sciences has enabled him to lead digital quality initiatives, developing data-driven tracking systems to ensure product quality.
Dan is well-versed in MWD (Measurement While Drilling) technology, skillfully integrating industry-leading features and technologies into the ProDirectional MWD Tool Suite.
Residing in Montgomery, Texas, Dan enjoys the company of his wife and two children when he’s not driving ProDirectional’s commitment to excellence.
Karen O’Neal is an esteemed pioneer in the industry, co-founding ProDirectional, where she now serves as the Executive Chairperson of the Board. Her journey in the sector began at Wilson Industries, where her talent and drive saw her advance through numerous positions, culminating in her role as the downhole motor and MWD division manager. Her expertise was further recognized and utilized following Smith International’s acquisition of Wilson Industries, leading to her appointment as the U.S. Manager for Smith’s Downhole motor and MWD divisions.
Ms. O’Neal’s leadership is characterized by foresight and adaptability, qualities that were instrumental in transitioning ProDirectional from a startup to the industry benchmark it is known as today. Her extensive experience and profound knowledge underpin the company’s ability to stay ahead of market trends and continuously meet and exceed client expectations. Her commitment to innovation and quality continues to guide ProDirectional’s path forward, ensuring the company’s position at the cutting edge of the industry.
Sean is a Partner at SCF and has been with the firm since 2017. He is responsible for the North American investment strategy and helps lead a number of SCF’s portfolio companies including Centurion, Pipeline Plastics, Taurus, Variperm, ProDirectional, Frontier Tubular Solutions and Westbrook Energy Group.
Prior to joining SCF, Sean was with Goldman, Sachs & Co. for 18 years and most recently served as head of Global Energy Investment Banking. He as a longtime member of the Merger Leadership Group and had previously served as Goldman’s head of Mergers and Acquisitions for the Global Energy Group.
He graduated with a BS from Boston College in 1994 and earned an MBA in 1999 from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Sean and his wife have four children and live in Houston.
Dan joined SCF in 2018 and focuses on assessing new investment opportunities and providing strategic growth assistance to our partners. He serves as a board director of several of our portfolio companies.
Prior to joining SCF, Dan served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, leading the Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel force in support of the NATO Libyan intervention and leading operations as executive officer of an infantry company in Marjah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He also completed a legal clerkship on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Dan holds degrees with honors in economics, business administration, and law from Harvard University, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
Dan serves as Board Chair of Brillante Academy, a Texas public charter school, executive board member of the Sam Houston Area Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America, and advisory board member of WorkTexas, a non-profit workforce development initiative. He is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
